Chris Christie regrets endorsing former president Donald Trump in 2016.

In his desperate attempt to gain footing in his 2024 presidential candidacy, Christie released a campaign ad, talking directly to the camera and said, “Eight years ago when I decided to endorse Donald Trump for president, I did it because he was winning, and I did it because I thought I could make him a better candidate and a better president.”

“Well, I was wrong. I made a mistake.”

He also told critics who advised him to drop out that, “this notion shouldn’t be acceptable to voters.”

Christie is only at 3.8 percent in national polls on the Republican primary nomination. Trump maintains his lead by a wide margin, with an average of 61.8 percent based on a recent survey
